2D Resistivity is an excellent method to investigate permafrost in overburden. The presence of frost significantly increases the resistivity of subsurface material, making its distribution easily differentiated on a 2D Resistivity profile.
Boreal GeoSciences has measured and interpreted resistivity in much of Northern BC and Yukon, encountering permafrost with a range of discontinuity, degradation and controlling factors. The experience gained in interpreting resistivity signatures of the permafrost with these varying characteristics has refined our accuracy when investigating areas where depth and distribution is unknown.
For permafrost monitoring we offer: single measurements, single measurements repeated at a certain interval, or monitoring with a permanently installed measuring system. We are also able to provide specialized solutions designed to meet the client's specific requirements.
